Crazy 4 Cult 4
Just woke up and was happy to find in my email more images for the cult show that's coming up NEXT WEEK (so scary how fast time passes). I wanted to show you some images from artist Rich Pellegrino. He did three portraits for this year's show and they are SO GREAT! This is definitely going to be the best Crazy 4 Cult yet! Check these out...
Wonka
Ash
Mr. Sobchak
The show opens on July 9th at Gallery1988 Los Angeles. If you can't make it to the show, the available work will also be on our website. Stay tuned for more images...

Crayon'd
Our good friend, art collector and man who owns a plush bear costume, Jon Halperin is putting together a pretty awesome fundraiser for a trip he's about to make. He's auctioning off an awesome Luke Chueh drawing all in the name of charity and art! Here's the project in his own words -
"On July 23rd, I leave for Guatemala to tour schools with "COED". The Cooperative for Education creates sustainable textbook, computer center, reading, scholarship, and library programs in Guatemala.
My goal is to bring out an entire suitcase filled with crayons for COED to distribute to the 194 middle schools they serve. Being a collector, and a fan of the arts, i thought this would be a good idea to assist in facilitating drawing/sketching to these kids...
To reach this goal, i have decided to auction off a Luke Chueh black/red drawing which i purchased from Gallery 1988 in 2005 for $150. It is titled "Sketch #6" and measures 6x8", 8x10" framed.
Rather than money, you will be bidding boxes of crayons from the $.99 Store. They are (you guessed it) $.99 a pop. This being said, United States bidders obviously makes more sense.
I will start the auction now and end it Monday June 28th at 9pm Pacific Time. Email jon@theglasshouse.us to place a bid and I will post bids here for all to see. I reside in Southern California, so local meetups work, or mail me the boxes and I will mail out the piece. The buyer covers shipping.
CURRENT (STARTING) BID: 100"
So email the man if you want in, and you want to support a great cause.
And here's the Luke piece you're bidding crayons for:
And safe travels to Jon!

Stalking Cult
It's almost that time of Summer, the moment in our exhibition calendar that will house our annual group exhibit, Crazy 4 Cult, now in it's 4th year, is almost upon us. Opening on July 9th, Friday night, at Gallery1988: Los Angeles, this year's installment is once again hosted by our cult filmmaking friends Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier (Clerks, Mallrats, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back) and this year is truly shaping up to be our best year yet! Figured no time is too early to let you in on a preview of what is always our most heralded exhibit.
Michael Steele creates a Cluster that will take you Back To The Future 2. LOVE this piece....LOVE this movie.
Alessandra Fussi works off pure imagination and gives you her beautiful spin on Willy Wonka.
Allison Sommers channels the Bud Cort in all of us, and "Harold And Maude."
And one of the MANY prints in the show, this is Glen Brogan's tribute to Pee-Wee Herman and a MUST HAVE for any fan.
You guys, I'm not going to lie - I'm REALLY excited. Are you?

May In June
We are so happy to have our newest show, "Into The Wild," a solo exhibit from artist Dan May, opening this Tuesday, June 8th, from 7-10 PM at G1988:LA. Dan is easily one of our favorite artists, and this will be the first time we have a large group of his work here in the gallery at one time. Dan's creatures are always able to convey such emotion, almost like we know exactly what the inhabitants of his world are thinking, without a word said. Dan will also be at the gallery for the opening, so you might want to take this opportunity to come by the reception and meet the man himself.
As this week goes on, we'll get you more previews for sure. And if you're interested in getting a preview of this show for purchases, and are not yet on our preview list, feel free to email us at gallery1988@aol.com and have "Preview List" in the subject of your email.
