THE AUSGANG GANG

A very special guest and highly regarded artist has curated our next SF show... ANTHONY AUSGANG!!!

Jensen and I are always excited to have Anthony's work in the gallery. We love him and his work and we knew he could put together an amazing show, which he definitely did!

The show is called "Apres Garde" and opens one week from tomorrow (Oct. 6th).

Anthony and his girlfriend Maura even created a website for the show! Check it out... www.apresgarde.com Thanks Maura!

That's one of the three pieces Anthony will have in the show, "The Death Of Sylvester." I seriously LOVE that painting!

Scott Saw, who's also in show put together a really cool blog explaining the process he used to create his work for the show. And you can check that out HERE!

So, get ready for this show! Only one week until it opens!

And next up we have Paper Pushers!

DANG(L)ER! MTV REAL WORLD X G1988

If these names mean anything to you, we could probably be much better friends than we currently are:

Irene with Lime's Disease
Eric Nies (pre-The Grind)
Jon Brennan the Country Singer
Julie Stoffer the Mormon
Frankie with Cysitc Fibrosis (R.I.P.)

Yup, Real World Alumni. I'm a super fan. I've been geeked out since Season 1 and still actually try to catch all the episodes I can. The fact that MTV runs them every 2 hours helps.

WELL, my little dreams have come true. I can't reveal too much, but the Real World is back in Hollywood and Gallery 1988 has curated some art for the new house! Be on the lookout for PlasticGod, Chris Lee (The Crazy 4 Cult poster!), Ahren Hertel, Peter Gronquist, Kii Arens and MORE, when the new season debuts in a few months. I wanted someone to do a commission piece of Puck snorting booger rocks for their living room, but that might have been a bit too self referential. Big things for us, right?

ALSO, don't forget! No complaining to me this time. I'm giving you fair warning. The newest Crazy 4 Cult print goes on sale Friday at Noon! You can call either the LA gallery (323) 937 - 7088 or the SF gallery (415) 409 - 1376, starting at noon PST. THEY ARE ONLY 20! Lowest print run we've ever done at G1988! They really do look stunning and they shouldn't last very long at all, if you look at all our past releases.

The Premiere for Page 88

A Page 88 Blind Item...

What LA artist arrived at the gallery "solo," wearing this amazing shirt? And did he bring extra batteries for that kind of volume?

See you tonight.

You see it here first! The new cover of Hi-Fructose, Volume 6, featuring the work of artist Yoko d'Holbachie, an absolute genius digital artist that will be participating in the upcoming Hi-Fructose "Bitters and Sweets" art show here at Gallery 1988, and more here at G1988: LA and SF. Annie and Attaboy have come up with a line-up of artists for this exhibit they've curated that is just flawless. Write it in your calendars now...the Hi-Fructose show featuring not only Yoko, but Ron English, KMNDZ, Travis Louie, Matt Dangler and many others, will open November 6, 2007. The magazine will be released at the opening reception, and the way these things fly, you better make sure to pick up your copy that night!

We also are just 2 days away from our next Crazy4Cult.com release, the second series of Scott Campbell Showdowns. You can actually see it now, and a small surprise for the quickest to call us with $200 on Thursday at noon PST, at the website. We're going to have another release 2 weeks later on the site as well, with our most limited print of all time. I'll fill you in on that next time I see you. Cause in just a week, it's time to see the next 7 Luke Chueh paintings!!!!!

Gallery 1988 is the BOMB (scare)!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE (next day):

It's Saturday, the next day, and all is safe on the artistic front. No bombs, no explosion, no Jack Bauer. We will live to see another day, but it's safe to say, we've all been affected. The intern saw me piss my pants, and I don't believe she will ever take me serious again. DAMN MY NERVES!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE:

I just went outside with a pen and pad of paper like an early 20's Daily Bugle reporter asking questions and was told we were "a little safer." Not sure what that means, but although all the back alleys and our parking area are blocked off, we seem safe despite my incredible fear (which is the same feeling I have about Wave Runners).

UPDATE UPDATE:

OK, when do I stop making jokes about this? When they set up the police headquarters right in front of our back door? Maybe.

UPDATE:

It's getting pretty serious now and is supposedly a credible threat to the Jewish Center next door.

Shane (Golden Apple) was pretty excited when he read "Bomb Quad," thinking it was in reference to his leg muscle (he walks to work everyday). It goes without saying he was pretty shocked when he moved his thumb.

News as it comes. If it is a bomb, we will be having a 50% off sale for the next hour.

Round 2 (Ring the Bell)

Sorry for the delay in blogs, but we're in a crunch for prints and I was waiting for this one to get back on the grind. First announced by Josh over at creepmachine.com, the next print for Crazy4Cult.com is ready and I can't be more excited.

Yup, it's the second set of Scott Campbell's Showdowns. And rounding out the set, the 5th print is an all new gem made specifically for this release.

Yup, the Goonies in all their Baby Ruth, Booby Twaps, Corey Feldman glory. And besides them you got 2001, Predator, Excorcist and Fistful of Dollars. And just like the last set (SOLD OUT in a few hours), these are gonna go away faster than Britney's sex appeal. And it might not be just prints available that day on the site too (man, I'm awful at hints).

MR. STAPLEY

Nathan Stapley is one of three artists in our next show "Salad Days," which opens in San Francisco this Thursday with Jesse Ledoux and Mark Bodnar. And you lucky blog readers get to see a little detail shot from one of Nathan's pieces from the new show...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Nathan is an amazingly talented artist who graduated from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. He's also a good friend of ours and we've had the pleasure of working with him for several years now. But I'm especially excited for this show because Nathan will have 20 NEW PIECES!!!

So, come check out "Salad Days" this Thursday. And if you can't make it to the SF gallery, we'll have all the work up on our website for your viewing pleasure (www.gallery1988.com).
