The final video

Big shouts to the Autumn Society, who released the final video for the 3G show today. Pretty amazing stuff in this, I suggest watching it.

3G Show Premiere Video from The Autumn Society on Vimeo.

My favorite part, that I didn't realize before the video, is that Ernie Hudson also drove home, back to the valley, in the Ecto-1. Can you imagine, just driving home on the freeway, and being shocked to see the Ecto-1 on the 101? BUT THEN YOU SEE ERNIE HUDSON IS SITTING SHOTGUN? I would just drive into the median on purpose.

Going, Going, Gone

The "3G" opening reception came and went, with a HUGE crowd, Ernie Hudson (from Ghostbusters), a replica of the Delorean from Back To The Future and Ecto-1. It was a MADHOUSE and an incredible show, curated by the Autumn Society. I'm sure after Labor Day we'll start seeing some fun pictures online, but in the meanwhile here are some from my Twitter account (@JensenClan88).

Me and the man himself. His is afraid of no ghosts. But slightly afraid of the hand that rocks the cradle.

By far the cutest thing I saw all night.

A pleasant surprise, the BTTF Delorean made a pit stop at G1988.

ECTO-1, yall.

Geeeeeeez soooooon

It's officially Friday and that marks the opening reception for "3G" - Gallery1988:LA's newest exhibit. This time we partnered with Philadelphia artist collective The Autumn Society, and each artist in the show had to do one piece each, inspired by the movies Ghostbusters, Gremlins and Goonies (respectively - and respectfully). Basically, it's insane.

Some of the best pieces in the show prints, that have editions of less than 20. Since we won't be pre-selling any of the prints, and the phone calls and emails have become uncountable, we're telling you once again, the line for the show starts at 5 PM. Just make room for the Ecto-1, cause that's coming. And so is a Ghostbuster. Rumors of a Goonie, and a certain Gremlins director, have been whispered, but we'll have to see, won't we.

Thanks to our friends at Thrillist, for really hyping the show up o their front page and daily email. You can read the article by CLICKING HERE.

Gonna be a lot of fun, so don't miss out, Friday night, 7-10 PM. 3G!!!!

Alt Ads

ANOTHER incredible poster advertising September 3rd's "3G" art exhibit, this time by Brandon Schaefer.

This show just keeps outdoing itself. Truth is, the prints from this show are very limited, and we expect a large crowd, so we're encouraging people who want to buy limited edition prints from the show to arrive early. But more on that later.

Don't cross the streams.

This happened

Thanks to our friends at the Turner Classic Movies Blog - Gremlins director Joe Dante said this about our art show -

"It’s amazing to me that 25 years after the fact, Gremlins is still inspiring (if that’s the word) people to comment on it. I guess there was something about the mid-80s, or maybe it’s just cyclical. We were invoking the 50s then, today it’s the 80s. Go figure."

I mean, that's unreal.

GGG

It's coming ya'll! The joint show between G1988 and The Autumn Society, "3G," is right around the corner. The show which will feature artwork inspired by Goonies, Ghostbusters and Gremlins will open on September 3rd, with an opening reception from 7-10 PM. Scheduled to appear is an exact working replica of Ecto-1 (by working I mean it will bust ghosts) and an original Ghostbuster (in uniform!!!!). You do not want to miss that. And our friends at Mattel are going to be bringing over their brand new Ghostbuster action figures that are really cool.

But the main attraction is easily the art. The work we've seen so far is astounding. Wanted to wake up a little early this Monday and show you what we got...

A different take on our favorite paranormal fights by German Orozco.

Jorsh Pena takes to the poster to sell you what is obviously a great holiday present (both the poster and the Mogwai!)

Drew Flachetta summons Chester Copperpot.

Loving this Gremlins piece by Alberto Cerriteno. His pieces for Ghostbusters and Goonies are super impressive too!

Erick Braddock's piece is awesome.

A G1988 favorite, Jude Buffum, outdid himself. Re-imagining these movies as video games, here's Gremlins. Wait till you see the other two. Game over.

Andy Ristaino shows that down here it's their time.

DON'T MISS THIS SHOW. Let's welcome the Autumn Society with open arms. We won't be eating after midnight.

And it's all pretty freaking amazing.

Still Crazy

First up, wanted to thank artist Daniel Danger and everyone who came by the opening last Thursday night, making it one of our most successful solo shows of all time. Daniel is a truly amazing artist, and good dude, and we couldn't be happier to showing him. If you haven't made it down to the gallery yet, you have till August 27th. If you live outside of LA, #1 you're missing some great weather, but #2 you can CLICK HERE to see the show in all its glory.

Also, we wanted to send a shout-out and thanks to our friends at Electric Playground for this feature they ran about Crazy 4 Cult 4. LOVE having them come to openings!

And I think you'll be seeing EP back at the gallery in September. And probably you. Official postcard below:
