Our clothing line!
This morning we announced that Gallery1988 has been given our own clothing line, GK:1988, a division within the brand Glamour Kills. It's all pretty exciting and going to be great exposure for the Gallery and our favorite artists! The first collection will feature designs from Greg "Craola" Simkins, Alex Pardee, Lora Zombie, Brandi Milne, Ken Garduno and Jordan Buckley. But enough of that, read the entire announcement at the new blog for GK:1988, gk1988.tumblr.com.

Strawn Out
We're readying "With Ease," with art from Roland Tamayo and Ben Strawn, here in the Melrose location (opens this Thursday) and we can't stop staring at Ben Strawn's work that was just delivered. It's not easy to find an emerging artist who is doing something NO ONE else is doing, but Strawn is that guy. The layers and multi-dimensional aspects to his work is breath taking. Here's your sneak peek...
These have to be seen in person. That's all.

HUGE Dan McCarthy Show
We're in the midst of setting up the Dan McCarthy solo show in SF and it's turned out to be one of the biggest solo shows we've ever had. Dan produced a huge collection of new pieces! Here are a few early previews of some new McCarthy originals...
"The Gloaming #3"
acrylic on board
"Snow Day #2"
acrylic on board
"Harvest Moon"
acrylic on board
The paintings are stunning and so finely detailed. Dan put a ton of work into this show. It's really incredible. He also created a time lapse series of customized screenprints (one for each hour of the day, so there are 24 total). This is definitely a show you can't miss. The opening is this Friday, October 1st from 7-10pm at Gallery1988 San Francisco.

The final video
Big shouts to the Autumn Society, who released the final video for the 3G show today. Pretty amazing stuff in this, I suggest watching it.
My favorite part, that I didn't realize before the video, is that Ernie Hudson also drove home, back to the valley, in the Ecto-1. Can you imagine, just driving home on the freeway, and being shocked to see the Ecto-1 on the 101? BUT THEN YOU SEE ERNIE HUDSON IS SITTING SHOTGUN? I would just drive into the median on purpose.

Dan McCarthy Back in SF
Coming up next at G1988SF is a solo show with Massachusetts artist Dan McCarthy. Last time we worked with Dan was in a 2-man show with Daniel Danger in 2009, and we're so excited to have him back in a featured show. LOOKEY
Look who's on the cover of the new Juxtapoz! Yup, it's Greg "Craola" Simkins. You guys have to pick this up and read the article, at least to read the announcement that Greg will have his next solo with us in November 2010 and will be curating his first show ever at G1988:LA in March 2011 called "Inle," with a line-up that you won't believe!
Congrats to Greg and Jenn Simkins (and Isaac). If we could only go back in time to the day we met, so I can tell you you'd be on the cover of Juxtapoz. I can hear the "NO WAY!" from here.

Going, Going, Gone
The "3G" opening reception came and went, with a HUGE crowd, Ernie Hudson (from Ghostbusters), a replica of the Delorean from Back To The Future and Ecto-1. It was a MADHOUSE and an incredible show, curated by the Autumn Society. I'm sure after Labor Day we'll start seeing some fun pictures online, but in the meanwhile here are some from my Twitter account (@JensenClan88).
Me and the man himself. His is afraid of no ghosts. But slightly afraid of the hand that rocks the cradle.
By far the cutest thing I saw all night.
A pleasant surprise, the BTTF Delorean made a pit stop at G1988.
ECTO-1, yall.
And now you can buy the PRINTS from "3G" online by CLICKING HERE.
And you can buy originals by CLICKING HERE.

Two amazing shows in two days. It's been a little overwhelming this week, but well worth it. I'm sorry I missed the 3G Show at the Los Angeles gallery, but we were busy setting up the Cult Customs show in San Francisco, which looks like it's going to become an annual show! The available work is up on the website, so you can check it out here...

Geeeeeeez soooooon
It's officially Friday and that marks the opening reception for "3G" - Gallery1988:LA's newest exhibit. This time we partnered with Philadelphia artist collective The Autumn Society, and each artist in the show had to do one piece each, inspired by the movies Ghostbusters, Gremlins and Goonies (respectively - and respectfully). Basically, it's insane.
Some of the best pieces in the show prints, that have editions of less than 20. Since we won't be pre-selling any of the prints, and the phone calls and emails have become uncountable, we're telling you once again, the line for the show starts at 5 PM. Just make room for the Ecto-1, cause that's coming. And so is a Ghostbuster. Rumors of a Goonie, and a certain Gremlins director, have been whispered, but we'll have to see, won't we.
Thanks to our friends at Thrillist, for really hyping the show up o their front page and daily email. You can read the article by CLICKING HERE.
Gonna be a lot of fun, so don't miss out, Friday night, 7-10 PM. 3G!!!!
