From Argentina to San Francisco!

We are so excited about our new SF show featuring the work of DGPH!!



DGPH consists of three amazing artists, Martin Lowenstein, Diego Vaisberg, and Andres Vaisberg, all located in beautiful Argentina. We work with artists from all over the world, but not too many have been from South America, so we are very excited to share their work with all of you.

Their show is even more special because on one gallery wall DGPH will exhibit approx. 90 artworks in all sizes and mediums, and on the other gallery wall we will exhibit very special prints from a book DGPH produced called The ARK Project. The ARK Project is an animal bible featuring work from participating artists across the globe. Each artist contributed an original design of one animal native to their region. To celebrate the release of this amazing book, we will be selling one-off prints of some of the designs from the book. The artists and Gallery1988 will be donating the proceeds from the sales of these prints to the World Wildlife Fund. We're so excited!! It's going to be a really fun show, so hopefully you can make it to the opening ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!

The show opens Thursday, April 1st from 7-10pm at G1988 San Francisco.

The Olly Moss Mystery Tubes will go on sale a little after 1 PM PT today at gallery1988.com. These will only be available online, not through phone or in-store orders. There is a 2 per household limit, and if you buy 2 - we can't promise it won't be the same poster twice. That's all part of "mystery," even to us. Good luck.

Mystery Shopper

This coming Tuesday, March 23rd, we're happy to be jumping back into the Olly Moss business. You might know Olly Moss as the poster-making sensation from our LOST Underground Art Project (as his Locke's Secret print is still going for $700 on eBay) or from his recent "Master Race" sold out print from still running "Greatest Moments In Sports" exhibit. To say that Olly has quickly become a top name in the print world (with only 2 prints released in total ever) would be an understatement.



Welllll, this Tuesday we will be selling what we're calling the "Olly Moss Mystery Tube." The mystery tube will cost $35 and inside the tube you will get one of three NEW screenprints from now LA native Olly Moss. Each movie inspired print will be signed and numbered and from an edition of 100. You won't know which one you're getting, but TRUST US...it will be AWESOME no matter what you get. Don't sleep on this because you will regret it. Especially once the word gets out about what's in the tube!

New website up and running, we here at Gallery1988:LA are so amped for our next show "Living Between Worlds," featuring the artwork of Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters. If you've ever seen a Kathie and Brandt collaboration piece, you know how incredible this show is going to be. Insiders say to look for a ton of custom toys and sculptures in this exhibit, which is most likely music to many of your ears. The show opens Friday, April 2 with a reception from 6-10 PM, where both artists will be in attendance! Kathie and Brandt have been giving some studio tease pics on their Twitter account, so we figured we'd share some with you.













This show is going to be beautiful! Mark down Aoril 2nd now as you will not want to be left out of these worlds.

TONIGHT - Into the Pixel in San Francisco

If you live in SF, then tonight you have to stop by the Hotel des Arts to see the 2010 Into the Pixel exhibition. You'll find us on the second floor with some of our video game themed prints on display, like Scott Campbell's Pac-Man mummies...

High Post

One day until our newest show "The Greatest Moments In Sports History (A Poster Show)," in conjunction with our friends at OMG Posters, and we're still getting in some awesome entries. It's tomorrow night from 7-10 PM and don't forget the Frysmith Mobile Food Truck will be hanging out outside the gallery. NOM NOM NOM.

In the meanwhile, figured I'd preview three more limited edition posters that you'll see in the show, sportsmen.



Drew Millward took a swing at a sports moment that is actually one of the sources of inspiration for naming our gallery "1988." Kirk Gibson's 9th inning homerun in 1988 to win Game 1 of the world series at Dodger Stadium, basically crippling the Oakland A's for the rest of the Series. LOVE this print, especially since it shows Gibson's awesome fist pump (no Jersey Shore).

Action!

We usually only post about 15% of the press we get for our shows - and we usually focus on the attention we get from outlets that don't usually, or have never, covered art in our genre before. So we were stoked, and quick to post, our coverage in this month's Action Figure Digest for the "Under The Influence: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" show that kicked off 2010 here at G1988:LA. Amongst the toys!
