We're proud to announce Gray Haddock as the winner of our Crazy 4 Cult 3-D Tim Doyle poster contest. A few applicants actually got all of the movie references correct, so we printed them out and allowed my dog, Benjamin, to choose the winning email. So Benjamin likes Gray! If you're looking for the key and answers, check out last month's blog entry archive, under the name "Sus-tense."
Congrats Gray! And look out for next year's contest!

Frame 1

DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com & Ronie Midfew Arts are proud to announce the "LOST Underground Art Project." The 1st limited edition print, celebrating the greatest "water cooler" moments from the ABC television show "LOST" is by artist Tim Doyle, and focuses on the Numbers. This print is also glow in the dark.
This 1st print, of an eventual set of 16, was announced at an event with DJ AM and Steve Aoki last Sunday in Hollywood. These prints are limited to 300, but less then 200 are available for purchase. Each is hand signed and numbered, 18 x 24 inches and only $50.
You can purchase this print at ActuallyItsKetchup.com and follow the entire project at DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com, which may involve free LOST events and stunts in your area to announce the newest print!

Sus-tense
Wanna test how impatient the world can be? Run a free contest that ends August 8th, then wait a week to post answers? It's kinda amazing.
Anyway, although we're still going through emails of people's guesses on naming every weapon in the Crazy 4 Cult 3-D Tim Doyle poster, we figured we'd still put the key and answers up and let the calm kick in before we've picked the winner.
So here we go, and yes before you complain, he included cult properties that have movies coming out next year. Kind of a loophole, but also kind of fun:

D. The Glaive - Krull
E. Bubo - Clash of the Titans

Doyle!
It's become a bit of a tradition now to create a poster to promote the Crazy 4 Cult show. And these posters (in the past created by Chris Lee, Andrew Wilson & Scott Campbell) pack so many movie references in one punch (and are so beautiful), it's mind-blowing! This year we asked artist Tim Doyle to create the official Crazy 4 Cult 3-D poster, and we are glad we did. Tim was our secret weapon...literally.

Here he references just about 40 weapons from cult movies, one more obscure then the next. I've wasted easily 20 full hours just trying to figure it out. Which might explain why none of the Cult artwork is hung yet. OK, so just like the last two years, we're doing a contest. Can you name the weapons seen in this Tim Doyle poster? If so, you're kind of a cult movie genius. The key is below:

And here's the thing. Send us an email, matching which movie each weapon is from with the corresponding letter or number we have assigned it. Send it to gallery1988@aol.com, with the email headline "Cult Contest 09." The winner will not only get a handful of prints from this year's Crazy 4 Cult 3-D, but also an Artist Proof of Luke Chueh's "I Asked For Scrambled" print. That thing easily is worth a few hundred bucks. You have until the show closes on August 8th to email it in. GOOD LUCK and aim high.
