Next Up In SF

Very excited for our next SF show with Jeremiah Ketner, Yosuke Ueno and Ewelina Ferruso!

The show opens Saturday, November 6th from 7-10PM. From what we've seen so far, it's looking like a great show. Definitely stop by and check it out in person. We are sad to see the Dan McCarthy show end, but he'll be back again next year with us in LA! FOr those of you who haven't seen the new McCarthy work, here's the link... http://nineteeneightyeight.com/sf/dandanmc.html

Ride or Die

This last weekend we were honored to exhibit "New Americana," a special weekend event with the mysterious TrustoCorp art collective. The show, a skewering of our cultural beliefs and American politics was a big hit, including the low-rider shopping cart above (with working hydraulics and themed mix from DJ Fred Wreck). All the work is incredible, especially as the show included carnival games, where the winners, who knock down three of America's problems with 3 chances, get their green cards and losers are told that America hates them (editor's note: problems like Big Business, Religion and War wouldn't go down no matter how hard you threw at it, but Gay Marriage, the Homeless and Education seemed to fall rather easily). And a carnival spin wheel that will give you possibilities, both good and bad, that will happen at the end of our days.

More Real

More reports of TrustoCorp products and street signs are coming in hourly. Here are two more signs seen around our city:

And then the PRODUCTS!!! Looks at these that were found at a CVS:

AMAZING.

In Real Life

The mysterious art collective, TrustoCorp, is obviously in Los Angeles now. Getting ready for their show here at G1988:LA Satuday night 7-11 PM (and Sunday 11 AM -6 PM) seems to involve causing havoc in the streets, and on the shelves, of the City of Angels. For example, we caught these TrustoCorp street signs out and about the area last night (which is assume is just one of many):

That one I presume is specially made for LA.

And then there's the product placement. The sneaky cats from TrustoCorp also create their own products to basically reverse shoplift and leave on shelves around the world. Basically placing them into a normal supermarket and passing it off as a real product for sale. Here are two already placed somewhere in Los Angeles:

Frosted Faith

Obesitea

Again, I can not emphasize to you how awesome this show is. I can't say much about the major surprise, but it's incredible and involves a ton of work, and even help from our friends, and sponsors for this show, Klipsch audio. YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS OUT.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

TRUSTOCORP

'New Americana'

Saturday Oct. 23rd. 7-11pm
Sunday Oct. 24th, 11am - 6pm

Gallery 1988
7020 Melrose Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90038

This month, covert street art conglomerate TrustoCorp brings it's unique brand of mischief and mayhem to Los Angeles for their first west coast exhibition titled 'New Americana'. The exhibition focuses on the decay of the American Dream and absurdity of modern American culture. Known for their satirical and politically charged street signs, fake products and other illegal art installations, TrustoCorp brings a hardcore and sometimes comical perspective on the state of American culture. 'New Americana' will feature a wide range of new paintings, sculpture and interactive art installations including carnival games and a very special collaboration with speaker company Klipsch and DJ Fred Wreck of Tha Dogg Pound.
