Lora Zombie

We are so thrilled to be putting together Lora Zombie's first ever art show at the Clandestine Industries Landmark Store in Chicago. It opens tonight at the Clandestine Holiday party, running from 6-10 PM. Russian born artist Lora Zombie is an incredible emerging talent who already has a Hollywood who's-who of buyers, and that's all been without even having a traditional gallery show. Luckily, you'll be seeing her a lot at Gallery1988 in the next year, so let's kick it off here in Chicago tonight!

And you blog readers can preview, and purchase, the new Lora Zombie artwork at http://g1988lorazombie.blogspot.com/.

Some GREAT holiday gifts in there at affordable prices.

Hopefully see some of you tonight, as I'll be at the store from 6-10 PM as well bringing in the Holiday cheer. And being in snow for the 2nd time in life.

Best For Last

December 2009 / January 2010 is easily the most exciting 2 month span in Gallery1988 history. With SF opening Paper Pushers, 88point5 rolling out with 1988 fav Chris B. Murray and Los Angeles opening Vivisect Playset, The LOST Underground Art Show and our annual January Under The Influence show (more on that later in the week) -it's what many would call a busy time of the year. But December 2009 will also mark our first art show at the Clandestine Industries Landmark store in Chicago, Illinois. With Clandestine Industries owner Pete Wentz, Gallery1988 will be orchestrating and curating art shows every once in a while over in Chicago, hoping to bring some of our west coast flare out to the Midwest. And our first Clan Art Show will open December 19th, introducing Russian artist Lora Zombie, a promising name you'll be seeing a lot of at 1988 in the next few years.

Lora, who's work was recently seen as the iTunes art for Fall Out Boy's new single "Alpha Dog," is an extremely talented young artist making her US debut at the Clandestine Landmark store. Already creating quite the buzz on the Internet, Zombie is ready to breakout - and now is the time to pick up her work while it's still affordable. Here are a few examples...

Lora's art show will be part of the Clandestine Holiday party, which will also mark the first time clothes from the "Death of Neon" collection (which includes a Lora Zombie designed shirt) will be available in the store. Exclusive Clandestine jewelry and a new Lora Zombie Landmark exclusive shirt will be first available during the event as well. And I'll be visiting!

Stay tuned to the blog, and our website, for previews and ways to pick up Lora's artwork - as we'll be selling the work through our normal avenues. And those in Chicago, we'd love to see on December 19th.

Clan The Man

Check out artist Michael Steele's new shirt for Pete Wentz's clothing line, Clandestine Industries, which is a label I've run and designed for the past two collections. This new collection, "Your Name In Neon," dropped just May 1st, and included designs from G1988 regulars like Steele, Sean Clarity and Andrew Wilson. Already sold out in a few designs, but no worries, you can still pick up some stuff by CLICKING HERE.

Also, if you don't know yet, I've also been blogging for the clothing line (musing more on our threads and general pop culture). You can check that out by CLICKING HERE.

I'm a slave for fashion. And Jelly Bellys.

We Fly Hi

Shouts to Nathan Spoor for the nice write up and picture set (even if I do look like the biggest human goober ever created in the pic with the Biggs duo). You can read the article by CLICKING HERE.

And in sort of related news, recently I took on a new job over at clothing company, Clandestine Industries, owned by G1988 artist and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. I'm the new design and brand manager at Clan and we launched the first collection in a brand relaunch just the other day. Cool part is, we're utilizing a lot of the artists you love and see commonly here at 1988 into the clothing line. This first collection has designs from Brandi Milne (Bomby McGee), Simon Oxley (Deserted) and Andrew Wilson (to many to name). And we have a ton of other 1988 frequenters currently working on new designs for the line too. So maybe you'll like the clothing too!?!

You can see the new collection and order the clothes by CLICKING HERE.

I'm also daily blogging over at the new Clandestine blog, which is about 70% random pop culture ramblings from me, and 30% Clandestine relate, so I'd love for you guys to follow me over there too. You can check out my new Clandestine blog by CLICKING HERE. I promise to be funnier than Paul Blart.

Anyway, that's the scoop over here. Four things to look forward to next week on the blog.

1. An awesome big print, limited to 25, being released in SF on Tuesday by Mia. All the info will be posted here on the blog the day of the release regarding how to purchase it, but these are going to go fast - so keep an eye open.

2. A new Luke Chueh print to be announced, then released in the LA gallery. Biggest giclee print on paper from him, or ever sold at the gallery.

3. Sneak peaks at the our next LA show, Transcenders.

4. The announcement of our April 5-year anniversary show!

Get ready - gonna be a lot of info.
